Does the net have to be a shield for law?

Increasingly, social nets are more used, and people live their own life. Like in real life, there are good people and bad, too. And they share space to be connected each other. But law (authorities) starts to have some problems to access to users even though if they present evidences to commit some crime. Orkut (Google’s social net) has one example of this blocking access information for supposed group of pedophilians.
